Last month Paul McGarry wrote to the Driver and Vehicle Standards agency following a campaign by local driving instructor Bobby Russell to bring a driving test centre to East Kilbride following the recent closure of the centre based in Halfords.
The DVSA confirmed the opening of a center at the East Kilbride British Legion, however, all the available slots were booked within hours of being made available.
Paul McGarry commented “The opening of a test center is good news for East Kilbride, however, demand as well and truly outstripped supply with all available slots going within hours. We need a local provision in East Kilbride that meets the growing demand of the community. Our estimates show that 600 East Kilbride residents are currently being trained, with only 21 tests being made available.
Paul has again written to DVSA urging them to increase provision at the earliest opportunity.
