Local Liberal Democrat Candidate, Paul McGarry has raised the GP crisis facing local communities. The Liberal Democrat group continue to raise the concerns in the Scottish Parliament
He said, “Our local GPs work extremely hard and deserve our support. However, local medical centres are facing huge pressure because of the rising populations in East Kilbride, surrounding areas and increased workload.
“We now have a major GP recruitment and retention challenge. I have called on the SNP Scottish Government to take action and expand local health centres. I will also use my new role on the parliament’s Health Committee to press Scottish Ministers for extra investment.
“Liberal Democrat MSPs questioned the First Minister about the GP shortage in Scotland, in the chamber of the Scottish Parliament in early summer. It’s vital that the Scottish Government take this seriously and I will use every opportunity I can to press this vital issue.” Liberal Democrats have a plan for more investment in GP training
